What Others Say

“We had our wedding reception 2013 held at ambria’s bar and restaurant. What I have to say about this place would be an under statement. Andrew made this event run so smoothly and he’s a breath of fresh air. The staff are such a delight and very professional. They catered to my demanding guests needs without a hitch. Food was displayed so beautifully and tasted great, i ate mine and even found myself looking at my husbands plate, it was that yummy.  The location of ambria is perfect, looking over the kaimais from the balcony was memorable. Service is professional, atmosphere is perfect, ambria is the place to go if you want to have a memorable experience cause we sure did. I would recommend this place for events and every thing else that comes with food and hospitality. I would even consider going back for my 1 year anniversary, this time dinner for two Andrew. Thank you so much for the experience and memories”

“Ambria is a pleasant surprise to discover in the heart of Kati Kati. We walked into to a warm and stylish atmosphere, relaxing music, friendly service and a fantastic menu. Service was top standard and our meals came promptly. Excellent range of choices and my husband and I enjoyed thoroughly the venison and Lamb Shanks. Each had a twist on the traditional way of serving them. They were presented beautifully and tasted great”

“We visited Ambria for the first time in May 2013. They have a Friday lunch one for one special. We were not expecting anything very exceptional, but there are few options for restaurant dining in this charmingly small Bay of Plenty town. We were to be proved very wrong indeed. The service was fast, friendly and welcoming. The setting is delightful. Although from the outside front entrance you would not think it was anything special, once inside the decor is warm and friendly, the music discreet and not intrusive, and they had the fire lit which provided a welcome relief from the autumn chill outside. The balcony at the back looks out over the Katikati Haiuku walk, which is Katikati’s best kept secret and well worth a visit.
The highlight however was the food. We were there for a special occasion and I wanted something a bit different, so I had a Chocolate Moose beer followed by the chicken, bacon and mushroom pasta. I have eaten in restaurants in about 17 different countries around the world, from Paris to New York and London. This was without a doubt the best pasta that I have ever had. The flavours were superb, the helping generous without being oversized. Often with a pasta dish the added ingredients are mean and sparse. This dish had large chunks of chicken, moist and tender all through it, plenty of bacon and just the right blend of cream sauce and parmesan shavings on top. Svargo had Salmon Rosti with green beans, a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. She is pescatarian, so appreciated some options available with meat being the main feature. It was beautifully presented and also delicious.
Overall, five stars for service, ambience and quality of food. Total spend for a Friday lunch – $16 without the beer! Unbelievable value and we would willingly have paid full price for a meal that good. Well done Ambria”

“Was the twins birthday and the food and service was a complete experience. Regardless the size of the groups that were also present all the diners were treated as individuals, truely a welcoming site in small town hospitality. The portions sizes were great and we found that the meals were priced accordingly. We will be back to sample the rest of the vast menu”

“Fantastic place and wonderful to me, as it’s also local, its atmosphere and presentation beats a lot of places I have been to for sure, the service and food is excellent. The bar and the drinks list is great, the menu and the choice for the the cost is very good. The summer room overlooks a good outlook of the park, the parking area out the front is also a bonus” – Carol Y | Menu Mania

“We enjoyed a fantastic dinner on your lovely deck. Wonderful, friendly staff and a delicious meal. We had a scallop entree, chicken main, and death by chocolate dessert. Very nice! We highly recommend Ambria for your next night out”

“We stopped at Ambria in Katikati on the way back to Auckland from a weekend in Tauranga. We had no idea what sort of place it was and were looking for a quick breakfast before getting back on the road. It was a surprise and well worth the stop. The restaurant is set back from the road in a small shopping precinct to the left of the main road as you come into Katikati from the south. There is a more obvious Robert Harris coffee house at the road side, but Ambria is tucked away at the back of a car park. It is worth looking for. We took a table at the back of the restaurant overlooking a part of Katikati that most travellers would never think was there. Our coffees were great and it was clear just from that, that the place set standards in presentation and quality (mocha, tall class, long spoon, quality crystals). Our breakfasts were respectively, creamy mushrooms served on Turkish toast with lambs fry and bacon and poached eggs with bacon. The mushrooms were just superbly done with a sauce that was deeply creamy but finished with a touch of pepper. The poached eggs were slightly under done but, by their shape and presentation, had obviously been prepared very skilfully. Ambria was a real find which was quite unexpected in a small town such as Katikati and, having now read the Trip Advisor reviews of it, our experience confirms the restaurant’s reputation for quality”
